Details of Acer’s Eee PC beater have surfaced and they are too tempting to pass. Screen, chassis and processor (1.6GHz Atom N270) are the same in all three models. What I find interesting is the OS-storage combo and the pretty even pricing between versions:
Aspire One A110L: 512 MB RAM, 8GB SSD, with Linux systems. 329 euros ($517)
Aspire One A150L: 1 GB of RAM, 120 GB hard drive, Linux system. 359 euros ($564)
Aspire One A150X: 1 GB of RAM, 120 GB hard drive, Windows XP Home system. 399 euros ($627)
All come with a 1.3 megapixel camera, 802.11b/g, Ethernet, three USB 2.0, 3-cell L-Ion with option for a 6-cell one. Acer’s Aspire One series goes head to head with manufacturing rival Dell’s mini-Inspiron.Obviously, these two ultraportable notebooks leave the Eee PC in the dust in the looks department. The original Ee PC 701 may be the undisputed champion in its price range. Asus though may need to rethink its strategy in the $500 price range.
